Pond Aerators |
Doug Foss, Manager of Clear Springs Foods, Inc.
Clear Springs Trout Farm – Clear Springs, ID |
"A continuing drought in southern Idaho caused spring flows to drop significantly at Clear Springs Foods broodstock facility located in Soda Springs, Idaho. Under normal operating conditions, the Soda Springs facility operates 26 raceways with an average water flow rate of 1cfs and up to 7,000 lbs. of fish per raceway. Declining water flows caused dissolved oxygen levels to drop below 5 mg/L in some second-use raceways, endangering the spawning population and jeopardizing our ability to supply eggs for our trout production farms. To address this problem, Clear Springs installed Kasco 3400AF, 3/4hp aerators at the top of 6 heavily loaded ponds. By maintaining effluent dissolved oxygen concentrations near 6 mg/L, the aerators have reduced stress and improved feed response in these ponds."

Rushing Waters Fisheries is the largest producer of Rainbow Trout in the Midwest with 50+ ponds on the farm. Steve Abernathy, Owner of Til-Tech Aquafarm
Til-Tech Aquafarm – Robert, Louisiana |
Til-Tech Aquafarm started in 2 large steel and glass greenhouses in 1991 which were originally used for growing hothouse tomatoes. Til-Tech was conceived to supply fresh Tilapia for a few restaurants in New Orleans. Til-Tech quickly became a research facility for LSU Agriculture and Engineering Programs. It pioneered research in green water re-circulation systems using bead filter technology developed by Ron Malone, PhD. Til-Tech soon saw the need for a hatchery and moved all production to their hatchery to supply fingerling Tilapia. Today, Til-Tech is a state of the art hatchery and has the capacity to produce 12 million plus fry annually. Kasco Aerators are used for de-gassing carbon dioxide in the indoor tanks. Kasco Aerators are "THE most effective aerator out there." - Steve Abernathy, Owner.

Mike Clark, Keo Fish Farms
Keo Fish Farms – Keo, Arkansas |
Keo Fish Farms is located Keo, Arkansas. Keo specializes in raising Hybrid Striped Bass fry and fingerlings and is the largest producer of these fingerlings in the world. The farm stretches over 1,200 water acres. Keo uses hormonal manipulation for spawning and can produce between 100 million and 120 million fry annually. The fingerlings are eventually moved to earthen ponds. At that point, Kasco Aerators come into play to keep dissolved oxygen levels high. "We have used them (Kasco Aerators) for years and they are very reliable. We never have to worry about low oxygen levels." - Mike

Jean, Ocean City
Ocean City, Maryland |
"Just wanted to thank you for your help. We received the 3/4hp aerator last week and it has been hard at work. I feel I have friend here combating the enemy (algae) while I am at work. I want to say I think your website is one of the most informative and I have learned a lot. One good thing I see already is that with the shape of our pond and the placement of the aerator in it, the geese are no longer able to splash down in the middle. Thanks again." - Jean

Water Circulators & De-Icers |
1988 Whale Rescue
Whale rescue in October – Barrow, Alaska |
In October, 1988, Kasco Marine sent its de-icing equipment and company personnel 312 miles north of the Arctic Circle to help with the whale rescue off the coast of Barrow, Alaska.
Although Kasco Marine had no official rescue invitation, we were convinced the equipment could do the job. . . so Kasco decided to "crash the party." At first, local officials did not take Kasco's de-icing equipment seriously, but they became enthusiastic after seeing the great results Kasco delivered. There was also a friendly reception from the whales.
Kasco's 3/4hp Circulator units maintained ice-free breathing holes for the trapped whales at temperatures consistently reaching -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Keeping these breathing holes free of ice, while waiting for a Russian ice-breaker was essential to the ultimate freedom of the trapped whales.
Kasco Marine is proud to join all who thank the Inuit crews, Alaskan officials, wildlife biologists, and many other who contributed to this rescue effort.

James Creek Marina
James Creek Marina uses Kasco Circulators for de-icing in the winter and to keep trash out of the marina during the summer. – Washington, D.C. |
James Creek Marina is located in Washington, D.C. and is owned by The National Park Service. They use Kasco 3400D, 3/4hp De-Icers and Circulators to prevent ice damage in the winter and for improved water quality during the summer. The major problem was with trash coming into the marina with the tidal flow and from a storm drain near the marina. To say the least, the slip holders weren't happy. It got so bad that some of the slips closest to shore could not be rented because they were filled with trash. Kasco 3400D's were installed on Dock Mounts on the backside of the main walk way to push trash and keep additional debris from coming in with the tide. Six were used right away, but once the existing trash was cleaned up, only 4 were needed, just enough to hold the tide back. During high tide, the de-icers and circulators keep the trash at the mouth of the marina and when the tide reverses, away it goes. Below are some pictures of their success.

Diane Schabach, Harbor Master – Menasha Marina

Joe Riley, General Manager – Windmill Marina
170 slip marina on the St. Croix River. – Afton Minnesota |
"We have a 170 slip marina on the St. Croix River and use 14 Kasco Circulator units in the summer months for water quality purposes. They are used with floats, dock mounts, and suspended by ropes depending on the location and circulation requirement. We also use more in the winter for de-icing purposes. As far as the summer months are concerned, they are effective at cleaning up the water, put debris in areas that it can easily be picked up, and assist in weed and algae control. I am surprised that all marinas do not use this type of approach. We have been doing this for 15 years and customers ask for them because they know they work." - Joe

Larry – Village of Lake Delton, WI
Replaced a larger, broken down unit with a Kasco De-Icer and had better results. – Lake Delton, Wisconsin |
Picture taken the morning of Dec. 6, 2005. Air temperature of negative 8 degrees Fahrenheit.
Note: Not a Kasco float. Performance would be even greater with a Kasco designed horizontal float.
"Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know about one of your De-Icer units, the 125V, 3/4hp unit, model 3400D. We had an existing unit we have been maintaining open water in front of the gates on our dam in Lake Delton and the motor burned out on it. This was not one of yours. We contacted the vendor that we bought the unit from originally and they said it would be two weeks for a new one to arrive. We needed something sooner to keep the ice from forming at the dam so we contacted a local boat company in Wisconsin Dells to see if they had a unit we could borrow or buy. They had a spare 3400D that they were willing to let us use. We were a little skeptical because it looked really small compared to what we had used before. We tried it anyway, mounting it to the float we had for the other unit. We were amazed. It did a better job than the other unit and is a much simpler unit. We plan to buy and use yours now." - Larry

Dave – Cheektowaga, NY
Another Kasco customer happy with the service and support received by Kasco and the local Kasco Distributor. – Cheektowaga, New York |
"After discussing my application with your people I felt Kasco was a quality organization. But in this day of what seems to be a growing consensus of 'buyer beware', I figured I was on my own with this problem. Your quick response and resolution is refreshing. I also want to let you know you have a fine dealer in my area. Prior to my purchase, the owner spent quite a bit of time with me showing the various models of Kasco fountains and aerators and explaining the differences. He made me feel very comfortable in my decision to go with the 2400AF model." - Dave

Marilynn – Connecticut
Another customer happy with the service and support Kasco provides. |
Just the thought of a cool colorful fountain in our pond is exciting! I thought it'd be a hugely complicated ordeal and bad for the pond life. You de-mystified the concept for me and I realized its really do-able!

John - Bliss, NY
Commenting on the assistance of Kasco to help remedy a problem with theft of a control panel for an Aerating Fountain. |
The difference, in my opinion, between a great company and all the rest is exactly what you demonstrate; flexibility, a good sense of fairness, and generosity. These are among Kasco Marine's great qualities and are nicely reflected through the decisions you and others in the company make.
