Testimonials for De-icer

"I experienced a power outage for 2 days, and when I went to check the house and dock, the entire area was frozen with about 6-8" of ice. After using a ceramic heater and drilling 1' holes around the De-icer, I was able to remove it, and it still worked perfectly! I was amazed. I dropped it back in the hole, and within 2 days, it had opened the area around my docks. I want to thank you for making a quality product. I will never buy anything but Kasco."

Keeps the ice away from my dock and boat lifts all winter. 60'-80' wide area in January and February

This worked really well to break up the ice in front of my dock area on the bay. Only took 1 day to get it all broken up with 2 feet of ice!

Excellent machine used in Canandaigua Lake. Ditched the ropes and sprung for the mounts this year with great results in shallow water, not damaged by floating chunks of ice as was a constant problem in my past.

Unprecedented cold and a moon tide lifted one front piling of my boat lift by about 3 feet. It also ripped out the electric. The other front piling was traveling up and down about 2 feet per tide cycle. My boat was about to slide back onto the ice which was about a foot thick. My boat would have crashed backside onto ice and probably cracked open and sunk. I got my chain saw and cut a 3'x3' hole next to the floating dock (super easy to cut ice). It took all 15 inches of my chainsaw to hit water. I pushed the block of ice under the water and sent it away, dropped pump in and within 12 hours all 4 of my pilings were free of a foot of ice. The temps during this time period --Zero degrees and 20 for the daily high.-- My boat was no longer teetering with the tides.

This product is amazing! We saw the deep freeze coming and realized we needed to do whatever we could to help our dock survive the winter. This package showed up very quickly and was super easy to install. It is a workhorse for sure.

This product works great I wish it wasn’t so expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. I’ve lived on the lake for almost 30 years and I can say I dreaded the idea of getting in the water and try to rake the Muck. Well my neighbor told me about this product and I did a YouTube search and thought I will give it a go and I’m glad I did!

FAQs

Which mounting option would work best in my application?
Mounting varies by need. Mooring ropes allow vertical or angled suspension for circular or oblong openings. Use the Universal Dock Mount for stability in active waters. Horizontal Floats suit calm waters when no dock is available.
How shallow of water can this unit work in?
De-icers should be in water 6-10 ft deep, and 4-6 ft. off the bottom. Performance in shallow water (<6-10 ft.) is limited due to less warmer water. The deeper the water, and the deeper the diffuser is installed, the better.
What does a de-icer do for ponds, docks, and lakes?
A de-icer prevents ice buildup by keeping water moving around docks and structures. This helps protect equipment while allowing gas exchange for oxygen, supporting fish survival and healthier water conditions during winter months.
Are de-icers safe for fish, wildlife, and pond ecosystems?
Yes, de-icers help maintain health pond conditions in winter by preventing complete ice coverage. They create an open area that allows oxygen to enter the water, reducing the risk of fish stress or winter kill and supporting overall aquatic health.
What size de-icer is needed for my pond or dock area?
De-icer size depends on water depth, protected area, and winter severity. Larger areas or colder climates typically require higher horsepower, and selecting the correct size ensures reliable ice prevention and equipment protection.
